Writing: Making Your Mark

Clay designed and produced a series of films, animations and interactive software for the latest exhibition at the British Library, Writing: Making Your Mark.

Developed in collaboration with the library's curatorial team and exhibition designers (Skellon Studio and Seeing Things), the exhibition follows the remarkable evolution of writing from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs carved in stone and early printed text such as William Caxton's edition of The Canterbury Tales, to the art of note-taking by some of history's greatest minds, and onwards to the digital communication tools we use today.

The team wanted to explore a few ambitious creative ideas, including environmental projection mapping, realtime analysis of visitor's handwriting, and collecting visitor opinions. Clay delivered a suite of seven exhibits that provided these in a way that seamlessly blended them into the rest of the exhibition.
