This landmark exhibition is a vital celebration of the profound impact of Black musicians, creatives, and entrepreneurs on British culture. Uncovering the stories, sounds, and pivotal moments that have shaped a rich musical legacy spanning five centuries.

We were honoured to collaborate with the British Library on this culturally significant project, creating a series of dynamic digital exhibits designed to offer engaging pathways into the exhibition's core themes.

Key highlights include a bespoke Interactive Map that allows visitors to discover key musical venues across Britain, illustrating how Black British music has emerged from and shaped communities nationwide over 500 years.

A unique digital recreation of a classic 80s record shop invited visitors to describe their musical tastes before offering a bespoke curated section. From jazz and reggae to lovers rock and beyond. Users can select and listen to curated tracks, and access information about the artists and the social context of their music, creating an immersive and nostalgic exploration of musical heritage.

Our aim for these digital installations was to provide intuitive and compelling ways for visitors to connect with the exhibition's narrative. By blending historical content with interactive technology, we sought to create memorable experiences that not only educate but also celebrate the enduring power and influence of Black British music, ensuring its stories resonate with every visitor.

The project was awarded Temporary or Touring Exhibition of the Year at Museum and Heritage Awards 2025.
