Virtual Tour app

Bank of England
June 2013

Working with the Bank of England, Clay have created a multi-platform virtual tour app that allows users to explore this historic London building in three dimensions.

High quality panoramic imagery of the interior of the Bank and real-time 3D are combined into an engaging interface that works on smart-phones, tablets, and desktops. Visitors to this virtual bank can explore the role of the Bank of England in the UK and international economy from within the rooms where the decisions are made.

The app offers additional interactive elements, discovered whilst navigating through the virtual tour. Inside the bank note vault, visitors can explore the range of security features found on the current range of bank notes. Using a mobile device's built-in gyroscope sensors, holographic imagery is brought to life and shimmers as the device is tilted back and forth.

The app offers a platform for additional content to be added and refreshed as necessary, allowing the Bank to respond to feedback and build on the interactivity in order to engage with their audience further.

Developed in a cross-platform manner, with extensive built-in event-driven analytics, Clay has supported the Bank in bringing the app to both the Apple® App Store℠ and Google Play™. In addition, a web-only Flash version allows online users the same experience. The app adapts to the wide range of screen sizes available on mobile devices, and ensures that the interface is presented in an optimal manner, no matter whether viewed on a 3.5" mobile phone, or the latest 13" tablet.
